My daughter Kate, husband Mike and myself arrived in Galera and were met by Les Edwards whom I already felt I knew from his friendly website and our subsequent emails!
We had a rather unusual criteria with the property we were searching for - firstly, we wanted family space as my elderly mother was moving with us, secondly Kate, who had sold her property in England, wanted her own self contained "space" and, thirdly, we wanted a couple of rooms that we could convert for Bed and Breakfast.
Over the course of the next two days, we were shown round several properties by Les? son, Craig. We all built up an excellent rapport with Craig and what could have been a stressful few days turned into a real pleasure and we enjoyed many laughs together. Although we quickly became friends, Craig was always very professional and courteous and we never felt pressurised into buying. By day 2 we had found the perfect place - a cave of some 3,000 sq.m. with undeveloped space that could be made into a flat for Kate and animal quarters in the corral that could be converted into our guest rooms. We knew this was THE ONE. Before we left for England, Craig had taken us to the bank where we opened our account and we started the proceedings for the purchase.
Once we were back in England we knew that if we had any questions or concerns there was always a friendly voice on the end of the telephone, or we could send an email and get a swift reply. In short, nothing was too much trouble.
We came out again to complete the purchase and, once again, everything went smoothly.
We moved here in February, 2005, and I am pleased to say that we regard Les, Sharon and Craig among the many friends we have made since our arrival.
Now, 18 months on, Kate has a beautiful self contained apartment and has plans to extend at the back of the cave. We have ample room for my younger daughter and husband to develop their own self contained apartment, and our Bed and Breakfast business is booming. Esto es la vida!
