Cortes de Baza es un pueblo histórico y muy virgen situado en el extremo norte del hermoso lago Negratín. Tiene un consultorio médico, un dentista, una farmacia, dos supermercados, una panadería, una carnicería, una pescadería, una gran piscina municipal (julio-septiembre), dos bancos, dos mecánicos, una gasolinera y varios bares que sirven excelente comida local.

La costa está a aproximadamente 1h40 minutos en coche (145 km), aunque también hay zonas de playa en el lago Negratín, que está a unos 40 minutos en coche de Cortes de Baza.
