These services are used by the villagers along with visits to the larger village of Cullar for all banking, post office, supermarket services.
Cullar is the closest full service village 7 mins drive away with all amenities and a market every Monday. There is also a large public pool complex with two huge circular pools, one for toddlers, a play park and picnic area as well as a bar, restaurant, life guards are in attendance whenever the pool is open. Throughout the summer there are shows, dances and other events provided by the local council free outside the bar for everyone to enjoy. Cullar is well known for the fabulous Moors and Christians fiesta the last weekend of April every year with parades, funfairs, outside bars, dancing and bands for four days with groups travelling from all over Spain to participate.
Within easy reach are the historic towns of Velez Rubio, Velez Blanco, Baza, Lorca, Galera and Cullar for you to explore and Granada is only one hour away by car or you could try the regular coach service to the city. A great day out sightseeing or try sking at Sierra Nevada in the winter.
Close to Baza is the Negratine Lake with beach areas for swimming, picnic and bar b que areas, a thermal pool, bars and restaurants as well as fishing and walks. Pedalos are available for hire on the lake in the summer. It is a great place to see the eagles swoop down for fish.
The coast can be reached in just over an hour and four airports ( Almeria, Granada, Murcia and Alicante ) are within easy reach with the addition of a new international airport opening late 2011 which will be even closer by. With excellent access to the motorway which is very quiet you can travel anywhere easily yet live in a completely unspoilt location with the people of Spain.
